Note: I had the School Board vote date wrong yesterday–it has been postponed until the 12th. Keep praying.
One of the great joys of my life now is watching our little granddaughter explore the world. As an adorable 20 month old, she is showing me anew what today’s Daily Vitamin means, that of being a new creature, dependent, yet displaying her free will as she becomes part of the world around her. From It’s a God Thing! page 145: “Once Christ enters a person’s life, that person becomes a new creature. We call it being born again. It’s like the person becomes childlike, totally trusting God for his life, his thought, his career, his choices, his future, his family, everything.”
As a Christian, I need to pray daily for that childlike reliance on my Savior. I am too prone to explore on my own, to want to do everything my way, to take as long as I want on whatever entices me, regardless of its true value. I am just like Kaley exploring her world. And just like her caretakers, diligently protecting her, even hovering over her to keep her safe, our watchful heavenly Father provides for us the hedge of protection and constant supervision to keep our souls. The analogy is beautiful, because both situations show unconditional love and the constancy of concern.
Of course, our desire is that Kaley will grow into the lovely young lady we predict, will make wise decisions, and will trust God for her life, her career, her choices, her future, and her family. Today I need to realize once again my total reliance on God, dedicate this day to His glory and honor, and trust Him to guide me where He needs me to be. May the coincidences I face be the Godincidences He has prepared for me ahead of time as He promised, and may He find me faithful to His calling each moment.
