The Jesse Tree ornament for this date is the cradle, and the story of patience of Sarai and Abram. The scripture is Genesis 21: 1-7 . It is the story of waiting for an heir until they were both in their nineties. Then God promised their children would be as numerous as the stars and the grains of sand. He was faithful.
The Chrismon ornament for this day is the Iota Chi, or the original Greek letters for Jesus.
“In the original Greek text, “Jesus Christ” is written IHSOUS XRISTOS. From earliest times these two letters have been combined into a beautiful symbol representing the Christian’s faith that Jesus is “the Christ [Messiah], the Son of the Living God”. (Matthew 16:16)
Both of these references display the sovereignty of God in that at the right time in history, He reached out to us in the form of people who were designated to change the world. Of course, the celebrations of Christmas is the ultimate reaching of a sovereign God to His people. He sent His only Son to live among us, and to die sacrificially for us, as our Savior. Because of Him, we can know the character and immense love of the Father God, and we are redeemed from our sins which otherwise condemn us to living eternally away from the presence of a Holy God. This is the reason for the season.
