When difficulties occur, I remain steadfast that God is good, all the time. He is sovereign, He sees the big picture. He loves me. That’s all I need to know in this life and beyond.
Recently I have observed several truths that could be life-changing, at least as I look at them close up.
I have been caring for a dear friend who is losing his fight against demonic cancer and its horrid effects on his life and his family’s. I know he is still proclaiming that God is good, all the time, even in these circumstances. Can I do anything less?
A young man in our church recently died suddenly at the age of 45, leaving a loving wife and four beautiful daughters. At his memorial service, the proclamation and deep belief that God is good, all the time, was the central message.
The country I love is in deep chaos. Assaults come from those who proclaim their message with ferocity and evil intent. I prayerfully consider and know that God creates and takes down kings. He has done it throughout history. I believe God is good, all the time, and that His will prevails.
On the other side of the ledger, God leads me with His word, and the study of His word, and the company of His people.
Matther 10:7-8 is my calendar verse today. Yes, God is good, all the time. “Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast our demons. Give as freely as you have received!” I take that to mean that I and His messengers are to be the Jameses of this world, right now, right here, spreading His message, doing His work, and rejoicing at evidence that He is in charge of this world and the next.
I rejoice that in Beth Moore’s message yesterday in the class I’m attending recognized that people all over the world are receiving God’s re conciliatory message, and that Calvinists and Pentecostals can study His word together, forgetting differences, and proclaiming that God is good, all the time.
I rejoice that in spite of our difficulties, we know the source of our strength, and that only when we are exhausted do we return to the fountain where His strength brings sustenance and revitalization in the knowledge that God is good all the time.
And tears sting my eyes when one dear friend, recently a widow, tells me through her tears that God is good all the time, and another faces this same trial unless the Lord comes first, Maranatha, in the next little while. She too proclaims, God is good, all the time. Therefore, even though we sing Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love, and that often we cry the sympathizing tear, we know in our souls and bless His Name that God is good, all the time. Amen and Amen.
