My Psalm 506 Birthday Legacy August 21, 2021
O Lord of eternity, I praise Your Name
For giving me children to raise and to love.
In Your mercy, You promised to love us through all generations
Those we know and remember, and those we’ll never see.
I thank You for forming them well within my womb,
For knowing every cell, every sinew, and knitting them well together.
I thank You for their safe passage, for their birth, their health,
Their very being, and for loving them even more than we parents do.
Your word says if we are faithful to teach them, You will bless their lives.
Thank You for Your Word which helped us raise these precious ones for You.
Your word says: “These commandments that I give you today
Are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road,
When you lie down and when you get up,” and that children are a blessing
Even when our hair turns grey. You number our days and theirs
And will be faithful to the next generations. I thank You and bless Your Name.
As deer pant for water, let my children long to read Your Word
And seek Your guidance in all that they do.
Thank You for redeeming us as parents, them as children,
And now our grandchildren. It is our riches legacy to them,
The gift of salvation through Jesus.
I pray You will give them enough challenges so they trust in You.
I pray You will give them strength of body and mind to serve others.
I pray You will give them purpose and understanding,
That they will know neither poverty or wealth
With a clear understanding that everything comes from You
As a blessing through Your providence.
I pray You will continue to quicken their hearts with music,
That they will sing Your praises and play their instruments
To Your glory. Thank You for blessing them with gifts
And bring them joy in sharing them with others in Your Name.
And thank You for the privilege of raising the next generation
And allowing us to see the next. Grey hair has its special riches.
I bless Your Name for rich treasures this special day. Amen.
