What an exciting week. This is Missions Week at Covenant Church in Palm Bay, FL. Through guest speakers and the miracle of Zoom, I can travel to churches we have planted all over the world and locally. We are a church-planting congregation. We have planted fifty churches in twenty countries, and our goal is to plant fifty more in the next ten years. Not only do we plant new congregations, we train local pastors to then go out and multiply by planting other churches. We have already heard from pastors in Lakeland and in south Palm Bay, where New City Church is beginning its third year of ministry. But, today I will visit England and India. Later in the week I will hear reports of God’s ministries in the Philippines, Myanmar, Ecuador, Taiwan, Brazil, and here in Florida, in The Villages. In the words of an old hymn, based on Psalm 72, “Christ Shall Have Dominion”:
1 Christ shall have dominion over land and sea,
earth’s remotest regions shall his empire be;
they that wilds inhabit shall their worship bring,
kings shall render tribute, nations serve our King.
Refrain:
Christ shall have dominion over land and sea,
earth’s remotest regions shall his empire be.
2 When the needy seek him, he will mercy show;
yea, the weak and helpless shall his pity know;
he will surely save them from oppression’s might,
for their lives are precious in his holy sight. [Refrain]
3 Ever and forever shall his name endure;
long as suns continue it shall stand secure;
and in him forever all men shall be blest,
and all nations hail him King of kings confessed. [Refrain]
4 Unto God Almighty joyful Zion sings;
he alone is glorious, doing wondrous things.
Evermore, ye people, bless his glorious name,
his eternal glory through the earth proclaim. [Refrain]
Go to covenantpalmbay.org, events, mission week, and join in the adventure. Pray for our new churches, many of which face persecution and all of which are dealing with COVID and other issues.
