Yes, it’s almost upon us–a new year to try again, to start over, to redeem the past and to challenge the future.
I love the piece Susie Larson wrote for today’s date in her Blessings for Every Day” in her Dayspring desk calendar. Get one for yourself and those you love. “May you have the hold inspiration to live up to what you already know! As you wait on God for your marching orders, may you fully believe that He’ll supply your every need. May you become a bold, brave warrior who stands in faith, trusts wholeheartedly, and testifies to what God has done. May your life be marked by power, authority, and mostly love. And may the reality of Christ in you mark your life in every way, so that wherever you place your feet, God’s kingdom comes to earth.”
Okay, let’s translate that into action. My goals for 2022: Reread the Bible in a new translation. Share my 51 original psalms in my “Life-Changing Water” book with my small group in person and on Zoom (if you’d like to join us on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 and receive a copy, let me know before I place the order for copies), pray daily for the construction of our new church building to progress as planned, at designated costs, without delays, safely, and more importantly, that our congregation determines to grow in faith trust, love, and unselfish love to others so that we reach hundreds for the Kingdom in 2022, and that I love my granddaughters as they grow in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God (first) and man. New motto: “Let’s do it in Twenty-two!”
A career teacher, with forty years of teaching language arts/English, Betty Jackson enjoys wordsmithing, writing, and reading as a vocation and avocation.Retirement is her "age of frosting," a chance to pursue postponed hobbies with gusto. She especially sends kudos to the Space Coast Writers Guild members for their encouragement and advice. Her five books, It's a God Thing!, Job Loss: What's Next? A Step by Step Action Plan, and Bless You Bouquets: A Memoir, And God Chose Joseph: A Christmas Story, and Rocking Chair Porch: Summers at Grandma's are available at Amazon.com. Ms. Jackson is available to speak to local groups and to offer her books at discount for fundraising purposes at her discretion. She and her husband soon celebrate their 47th anniversary, and have lived in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, and now the paradise of Palm Bay, Florida. Their two grown children and daughter-in-love, all orchestra musicians, and our beautiful granddaughters Kaley and Emily live nearby. Hobbies, and probably future topics on her blog: gardening, symphonic music (especially supporting the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra as a volunteer and proud parent of a violinist, a cellist, and an oboist), singing, book clubs, and co-teaching a weekly small-group Bible study for seniors. She volunteers and substitute teaches at Covenant Christian School, and serves as a board member of the Best Yet Set senior group at church. Foundationally, she daily enjoys God's divine appointments called Godincidences, which show God's providence and loving kindness.
