The story of Jesus is one of redemption. The message of Easter and beyond is that it is our turn to tell it to the world. May this poem, My Psalm 166 capture the story so we can tell it over and over throughout all generations to all parts of the earth. Jesus has risen. He has risen, indeed. Alleluia!
My Psalm 166
Predicted Messiah,
Son of God, Son of Man,
Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords
From Paradise came.
A manger Your bed
Face scratched by the straw
That same brow a crown
Of fierce thorns You would wear.
Man of sorrows, servant-king,
Among men, You were born
Acquainted with grief
In humility scorned.
You’d wander this earth,
No home, no abode
Showing God’s ways,
His Nature, His love.
Though sinless, You died
On stark Calvary’s tree
Salvation’s atonement
Redemption You’d be.
Death could not hold You,
Resurrection occurred
By God’s plan then, Ascended
To Heaven’s home you returned.
Our great intercessor,
You sit on the throne
Rightful place, near the Father,
King of Kings, Lord of Lords.
But You left us with treasure
On that Pentecost day
Rich Comforter and Guide
Holy Spirit, You stayed.
Now the task set before us
To tell the whole world
Your marvelous story
Before Your return.
We’ll baptize and teach
Every nation and tribe
Emmanuel with us
Our faith to describe.
And when time is finished
You’ll come back again
We plead, “Maranatha,
Hallelujah, Amen.”
You’ll open the Scrolls
You are Worthy, O Lord,
All nations will bow
Worshiping You in one accord.
We’ll give power and glory
And praise to the King
Forever, eternally:
“Holy, Holy!” We’ll sing!
‘Til then, Holy Spirit
Empower our souls
To rest in Your guidance
Under Your control.
To bless us and keep us
And guide us each day
To focus on Jesus
In what we do and say.
