As I listen to news broadcasts, on EVERY channel, all I hear and see is WAR. While I intentionally stay apprised of current events, I find watching these broadcasts to be revolting, depressing, and endlessly repetitive, and while the old adage “blood sells papers ” is endlessly true, it’s way out of bounds now. Is there nothing else in the world to cover? Surely, there is.
I can’t do anything about this devastation and concern, but I can pray. And I can concentrate on keeping peace in my relationships with other people and encouraging my prayer partners to join me in promoting peace.
I can embrace God’s word. Psalm 37:4 says: “Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” or i can read Psalm 122: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you prosper. 7May there be peace within your walls, and prosperity inside your fortresses.” 8For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”… or I can just go about my business like some of the people I communicate with who tell me to just not watch the news.
I am looking for someone of our leaders to take action and deny Iran the power to influence the terrorists, to get Congress back to work, to take leadership on my behalf, and to mention that this is a holy war against Israel, the chosen holy land for millions who believe this area of the world will host Armageddon and see the end of the ages. I would hope a leader would stand up and remind the world of this country’s place in history and in the future of the world. While Israel is a secular nation at this time, we can still take delight in God’s power to change that situation.
Would it be bold to say, I would delight in another of God’s miracles that turn the world’s attention to His ownership of the whole of creation? And then, I look at those rendering humanitarian aid and accomplishing incredible things in spite of huge danger. But as I read Old Testament history, I see the Israelites killing 20,000 in battle because God gave the victory. The world needs to see a Hallelujah moment, or at least a person in leadership position giving some perspective that this is a Muslim-Jewish-Christian conflict, and that we’d better get the right perspective on this situation. God will not be mocked. And I delight in worshiping Him.
