I love reading the wisdom of the book of Proverbs. So many of its verses, written so very long ago, have wisdom that we need this very moment.
I’ve been wresting with paperwork, trying to get my sister transferred to assisted living here in Florida. The paperwork burden is relentless, and my other sister who has Power of Attorney has had a far greater burden than mine, and is still overwhelmed.
Today’s verse, Proverbs 29:25 says, “Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
The last few days, that has been driven home to me by several events. The “coronation” of Kamala Harris without a democratic process or even one vote being cast for her, the beginning of the Olympics and the sabotage of rail systems and other malicious behavior, marring the opportunity to bring nations together for the good of championing achievements, the anti-Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, his heroic and dynamic speech to Congress, many of whose members boycotted the event (to their loss–he put so much into the correct perspective if they’d only listen), and an awesome “Come Together” event at church on Wednesday night. Things we experience on a daily list of events and observations can keep us in turmoil if we attend to them too much. They are the affairs of men.
Again, Susie Larson in her Blessings for Every Day desk calendar for today’s date helps me put it all into perspective,. May it bless your day as it will mine:
“May you be content to know that you cannot be all things to all people, you live to serve an audience of ONE. May you love people but keep your hope in God. May you be willing to take risks with people, but may your sole trust be in God. May the power you once gave to others rest solely on God because He defines. He saves, He provides, and He has the power to transform.”
What I’m learning is that when God tells us He’s in charge of the whole universe and that he even notices a hair’s fall or a bird’s, all is well, and that what Biden, Trump, Harris, Netanyahu, or anyone else devises to threaten, rule, slander, applaud, or influence should make no difference. And, I can live quite well with that truth.

She volunteers and substitute teaches at Covenant Christian School, and serves as a board member of the Best Yet Set senior group at church. Foundationally, she daily enjoys God's divine appointments called Godincidences, which show God's providence and loving kindness.
