Let’s allow this verse from Ephesians sink into our consciousness, our very souls today as we consider the magnitude of God’s power: “I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 1:19-20) This is Almighty God, who loved us so much that He sent His Son from those same heavenly realms to live among us, to walk as we walk through mortality with all its insecurities, its sufferings, its day-to-day struggles, its sin, its relational difficulties–all of it, just so we could know His attributes! What a mighty God. What a loving God!
As we worship the Savior’s victory this week, we know Almighty God’s power. Just imagine. He shared His Son with us so that we can live!
The choir at Covenant Presbyterian Church will sing these words on Sunday. May they bless you today as you consider how Almighty God gave this gift to us so that we can one day know the victory as well!
“Victor’s Crown” by Zscheck, Houghton, and Jobe
“You are always fighting for us, heaven’s angels all around, My delight is found in knowing that you wear the Victor’s crown/
You’re my help and my defender, You’re my Savior and my friend. By your grace I live and breathe to worship You./
At the mention of Your greatness, in Your name I will bow down, In your presence fear is silent, for you wear the victor’s crown./
Let Your glory fill this temple, let your power overflow. By your grace I live and breathe to worship You./
Hallelujah! You have overcome the world!
You are ever interceding as the lost become the found. You can never be defeated, for You wear the victor’s crown./
You are Jesus, the Messiah, You’re the Hope of all the world. By your grace I live and breathe to worship You./
Every high thing must come down, every stronghold shall be broken. You wear the victor’s crown.. You overcome the world./
At the cross the work was finished. You were buried in the ground. But the grave could not contain You, for you wear the victor’s crown.”
Only our Almighty God could accomplish this gift of salvation; only our Almighty God can save our weak, mortal, sinful souls through the victory of Easter. Indeed, only Almighty God could provide the grace which allows us to “live and breathe to worship” and the desire of our hearts to do so. He is risen; He is risen indeed, to bring us life, purpose, and a life lived in thanksgiving to Him. Happy Easter, and Happy Eternity.
