Sharing the Plenty in 2020. From 1 Timothy 4:7-8: : this piece of solid advice. Turn off the TV with its doom, gloom, and controversy and listen to this advice for spiritual fitness in study, prayer, and loving others: “Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales.” Maybe even spend less time on Facebook (opinion and commentary by people who know less about the REAL world view than you do). “Spend your time and energy in…..
Sharing the plenty in 2020: God’s word says, in Psalm 32, and it’s eternally true: “‘I will advise you and watch over you.’ Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.” He will see us through this present adversity, testing our strength and resolve, but He is present, doing good things for His glory and our good. With Mr. Rogers, I suggest we look at all the good that has come from this…..
Sharing the plenty in 2020. Waiting is hard. Waiting for a birthday or Christmas as a child seemed interminable. Waiting for things to “open up” after this horrid plague is frustrating. Awaiting the birth of a child or grandchild is a time of anticipation that seems to take forever until that special birth day. Hosea in the Bible expressed it this way: “Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of my love. Plow up the…..
Sharing the Plenty in 2020: from Philippians 3:20-21 the good news of the Gospel to give us hope and comfort as we recover and move on from the crisis phase of Covid 19. Yes, we will recover, but we may never live as we did previously, with somewhat reckless abandon, “doing our own thing” and enjoying the freedom of access and excess. God has a better plan for us. Make these words of scripture part of your new day and…..
Sharing the plenty in 2020: from Proverbs 12:25 and 14:30, we are given some special words about attitude. Especially now, when “Staying at home” has changed all of us, and there is concern about how “normal life” will be going forward, these words from long before this moment: “Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away.” While we may not be able to change our circumstance, we…..
Sharing the plenty in 2020. From Romans 12:2 good advice! “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of the world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what god wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is.” Today, let us represent the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in a culture that is seeking a totally new way…..
Covenant Church is doing a project called Isolation Olympics. One of the activities is to take a prayer walk in your neighborhood and leave a present on the doorstop. This is a letter I wrote my neighbors. Thought you might like to do something similar in your neighborhoos.
Hi. We’re Betty and Ev Jackson. We live at 298 Sawyer Street surrounded by greenery, the house with the rock wall in front.
Our church, Covenant Presbyterian (covenantpalmbay.org) is doing a fun…..
It was quite a night.
Supper with friends, the washing of disciples’ feet, an air of destiny’s call.
“One of you will betray me,” He said, to the protestations of all but one.
To Judas he said, “What you do, do quickly, and quickly it was done.
Peter protested. “I’ll never betray you, Master. I will die with you,”
His spirit said, but Jesus knew better, “You’ll deny…..
As we learn to live under the “Stay at Home” edicts, Ev and I shop at 7:00 at Publix. They have special hours for seniors. We divide up the shopping list, carry our own bags, quickly shop and depart, sanitizing our hands as soon as we get into the car. We’re thankful businesses like this care about us, but as seniors, we’ve lived through countless crises, and hopefully will survive this one. This, it se

We are not free to worship together, but we can prepare for this special Holy Week during the Pandemic. Here are some resources to help us get through these unusual circumstances. The Christ journey is timeless, but this year, we may add to the arsenal of prayer while we worship and pray at home. May these bless your week in a very special way. You are special to me; join me this week as we prepare for Easter, 2020
