After Easter, Jesus, the Risen Lord, appeared to many. Their stories are riveting. His disciples and others ate with Him, talked with Him, walked with Him, and listened to His teaching. They knew, because He told them, that He would soon be leaving them, ascending into heaven, and that would be necessary so that He could send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who would help them, and us, recall what He had taught and give us wisdom to spread the message worldwide. His was a kingdom for all people and for all time, not just for the small area where He originally had influence. It was God’s plan all along.
Let us worship today with these words from Psalm 85:1-2–“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.” Mostly, let us pray thanksgiving for Jesus’ sacrifice for us, the Father’s love for the world, and the Spirit’s guidance as we await The Second Coming and the eternal reign of Christ, the King.
