Throughout the month of November I have posted daily entries on Facebook and some on this site from my book, Thanksliving: Attitude of Gratitude. Today I write my Psalm of Thanksgiving to God for His blessings since writing that book in 2016.
Heavenly Father, Creator of the Universe, Lover of my soul,
I praise You for all that is good in my life
And for the difficulties I face, for they teach me perseverance, character, and patience.
I praise You for being as constant as the North star You created,
For being as close as hand and foot,
For determining before my birth
To save me from Satan’s grip and bring me to faith in Jesus Christ, Your Son.
I believe the words of Maltbie D. Babcock, “That though the wrong seems all so strong,
You are the ruler yet.” (“This is My Father’s World”)
I thank You for being the Alpha, the Omega,
For being constant throughout all the ages and all eternity.
I thank You for the joys of my life: family, friends, church brothers and sisters,
And for the heritage of clouds of witnesses who have taught, blessed, and loved me.
I thank You for generations of church historians who have preserved the church
Through Your blessing, and continue to bless The Bride of Christ.
I thank You for encouragement, for hope, for assurance
And trust Your eternal Presence in this life and the next.
And I thank You for preserving me through seven decades so I am blessed
With a modicum of wisdom and with grandchildren.
Thank You for my opportunity to publish books to honor Your Name,
And for each moment’s breath.
In the Name of Jesus, Lord, Savior, Intercessor, and Master. Amen.
A career teacher, with forty years of teaching language arts/English, Betty Jackson enjoys wordsmithing, writing, and reading as a vocation and avocation.Retirement is her "age of frosting," a chance to pursue postponed hobbies with gusto. She especially sends kudos to the Space Coast Writers Guild members for their encouragement and advice. Her five books, It's a God Thing!, Job Loss: What's Next? A Step by Step Action Plan, and Bless You Bouquets: A Memoir, And God Chose Joseph: A Christmas Story, and Rocking Chair Porch: Summers at Grandma's are available at Amazon.com. Ms. Jackson is available to speak to local groups and to offer her books at discount for fundraising purposes at her discretion. She and her husband soon celebrate their 47th anniversary, and have lived in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, and now the paradise of Palm Bay, Florida. Their two grown children and daughter-in-love, all orchestra musicians, and our beautiful granddaughters Kaley and Emily live nearby. Hobbies, and probably future topics on her blog: gardening, symphonic music (especially supporting the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra as a volunteer and proud parent of a violinist, a cellist, and an oboist), singing, book clubs, and co-teaching a weekly small-group Bible study for seniors. She volunteers and substitute teaches at Covenant Christian School, and serves as a board member of the Best Yet Set senior group at church. Foundationally, she daily enjoys God's divine appointments called Godincidences, which show God's providence and loving kindness.
