Exodus 14:14 reminds us to be still and just listen. It says: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” The last few days have been tense, thinking about my sister’s hospitalization, her COVID treatment, and her delayed physical therapy after her shoulder replacement surgery. Yesterday she was transferred again to Sharon, CT Healthcare, a rehabilitation facility nearer to her home in Pine Plains, New York. There she should receive the attention she needs for her long-term outcomes. I went through a period of time yesterday, following our small group meeting in the afternoon, where I couldn’t reach her, I couldn’t reach her friend, who is her advocate, and I could not reach my sister. Then, I discovered her church friends had cared for her animals, the Danbury Hospital had arranged everything well for her transfer, they had found a rehab facility (the day before they were going to send her to Queens in New York City!), and that her COVID has responded to their treatment. I am forever thankful to Danbury, her pastor, her friend, and most of all to God who handled it all much better than I could from miles and states away. Now, I can indeed be still.
