Jerry Klemm’s sermon yesterday on facing trials, which we all are during this period of time and always, I suppose, is very timely. After a wonderful worship time and a tremendously welcome live concert by the Space Coast Symphony, I cam to home the message my younger sister, Dottie was in crisis. She fell sometime during the night on Saturday, remained on the floor all night until she remembered to press her med-alert button to call the paramedics, and was transported to Sharon, Ct. hospital. She had extensive shoulder surgery a week ago. They did a CAT scan, no apparent problems, then discovered she has COVID. Because she has several co-morbidities, they transferred her by ambulance in a snowstorm to Danbury Hospital an hour away. Long distance it is difficult to deal with all of this, but God is gracious, put me in touch with the night nurse who was reluctant to give me any information until we discovered her brother lives in Titusville. Now we’re like buddies. Dottie’s condition is stable at the moment.
They expect Dottie to remain there for a five day course of treatment, assuming all goes well. They even offered to later today make a Zoom meeting available. We’ll see. Meanwhile, we rely on God’s grace. The page on my “Bible Keys to Well Being” for today says: “Darkness and anxiety are chased away as God’s light floods our hearts. The verse accompanying this truth is Ephesians 1:18: “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future He ahs promised to those He called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance He has given to His people.” I am trusting, once again, that God will carry our family through this emergency, and I know yesterday’s message was meant for all of us facing difficulties today. The closing hymn was “Great Is They Faithfulness–Beginning to End” by Thomas Chisholm, Jason Ingram, and Michael Weaver. Their chorus, added to the familiar inspirational hymn says: “Beginning to end, my life in Your hands/ Great, great is Your faithfulness. You never let go/This one thing I know/ great, great is Your faithfulness.” It is so true and so welcome today.
