Day 12 “The butterfly has long been a symbol of life after death. The remarkable transformation that takes place during the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly beautifully illustrates the promise found in I Corinthians 15:52: ‘The dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed’”
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the story of the caterpillar and the butterfly. We thank You for transformation, for that is just what You want to do with us when we know Christ as Lord. We see the resurrection, the New Life which awaits us after a time of toil and troubles on this earth, in this life. We look forward to our ultimate transformation. But for a little time here, we will transform into the likeness of Christ with Your guidance. We long to live for You. In His Name. Amen.
Chrismon ornament #11 The Lamb
DAY 11
“This symbolic ‘Lamb of God’ is often known by its Latin name Angus Dei. John 1:29 records that upon seeing Jesus coming toward him, John the Baptist exclaimed: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world”. The lamb, pure and faultless, was used as the preferred sacrifice in the Old Testament. Only Jesus, however, could ever truly be the ‘perfect sacrifice’ for the sins of mankind.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We think of all the images of the Lamb You gave us in Scripture. The Lamb that needs to follow, needs to be led. The Lamb that was offered as sacrifices. The lambs that are separated from the goats at the final judgment. We want to be lambs.
But then, You offered Your Son, the Perfect Lamb of God, to be the Perfect Sacrifice for us. Thank You, Lord for making us understand that the lamb, Who willingly offered Himself up for us, is a symbol of purity and an acceptable One to You. We thank You for Jesus. Amen.
