We can be confident that God is eternal. We can be confident that he has made a covenant with the children who follow Him that he will erect tall hedges of protection around us, and that He will be the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and in all of eternity. We know Him as the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of the Greek alphabet and the beginning and ending of all time: Genesis through Revelation. Psalm 36:5 says: “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies.” The hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is one of my favorites. It reminds me that “Morning by Morning, new mercies I see.” I can pray confidently, whatever this day holds in store for me, that God already knows the outcome and will guide me through the hard decisions and will bless the others.
This is “My Psalm 318 Confidence”
MY PSALM 319 CONFIDENCE
Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of all things,
I thank You for loving me, for calling me, for sustaining me
And for the confidence of my salvation
Through my Lord, Jesus Christ.
I thank You for Your promise to guide and direct my path
So I do not have to wander this life
Aimlessly and without purpose.
I thank You for assuring me that Your sovereign will
Is better than my plans and thoughts and actions.
I thank You for telling me that all things
Work together for good
For those who follow You. I am Your child.
I thank You for Your church, Your Bride,
Teaching me Your ways, leading me in worship.
I thank You for pastors and teachers who share the Gospel
And for the clouds of witnesses You have provided me.
I thank You for the work of those who spread Your Word
To all lands and peoples, tongues and tribes
And that ultimately we will all worship at Your feet
In heaven’s glory.
I thank You for the confidence that it will be so. Amen.
Earlier in the week I posted Ruth Manz’s words, written while she and her composer husband, Paul, kept vigil over their three-year-old child who was not expected to live. These words, set to music and available on You Tube express my thoughts this day as I face difficult decisions. May it bless you.
Peace be to you and grace from him
Who freed us from our sins
Who loved us all and shed his blood
That we might saved be
sing Holy, Holy to our Lord
The Lord, Almighty God
Who was, and is, and is to come
Sing Holy, Holy Lord
Rejoice in heaven, all ye that dwell within
Rejoice on earth, ye saints below
For Christ is coming, is coming soon
For Christ is coming soon
E’en so Lord Jesus, quickly come
And night shall be no more
They need no light nor lamp nor sun
For Christ will be their All!
