Sorry my website has been down. We’re back.
from my book Advent Adventure, a Devotional Guide where you will find Jesse Tree and Christon ornaments:
We are admonished by scripture to teach our children a true picture of God and our relationship to Him, as found in:
chapter eleven of Deuteronomy:[1]
So if you faithfully obey the commands
I am giving you today—
to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul—
then I will send rain in its season,
both autumn and spring rains,
so that you may gather in your grain,
new wine and olive oil.
I will provide grass for your cattle,
and you will eat and be satisfied.
Be careful, or you will be enticed
to turn away and worship other gods
and bow down to them.
Fix these words of mine
in your hearts and minds;
tie them as symbols on your hands
and bind them on your foreheads
.
Teach them to your children,
talking about them when you sit at home
and when you walk along the road,
when you lie down and when you get up.
Write them on the doorframes
of your houses and on your gates,
so that your days and the days of your children
may be many in the land
the Lord swore to give your ancestors,
as many as the days
that the heavens are above the earth.
And in Proverbs 22: 6[2]
Start children off on the way
they should go,
and even when they are old
they will not turn from it.
Visual reminders of the “real” meaning of Christmas can help.
This devotional guide brings three practices which may help keep things in balance. They are not meant to add to the busyness of the season, but to indeed give us pause and consider the TRUE REASON for the SEASON.
It is this author’s privilege and joy to share these in hopes of your welcoming Jesus’ Birth as the true celebration, Christ Incarnate, Savior, who taught us to love God in a way unique only to Christianity. Through Him we have a lasting relationship with the Almighty God of the Universe!
