This was one of those days– little sleep, too much to do today just to keep up, and then another shoe dropped. Need I say more?
After a sweet time of prayer with my small group this morning, I was feeling somewhat better, reminded of God’s strength, grace, power, mercy, and the huge Godincidences that show me God’s love even when I’m too blind to see it. God opened my eyes in three ways after I got home.
One, He sent me a fellow here at Glenbrooke who deals with property management and estate sales. More later on that one.
Second, he gave me encouragement through music and complimentary comments about the memoir class I’m teaching here.
Third, through three specific scriptures and a song by Paxson Jeancake.
Maybe it’s because I was so needing the positives today, but moreso, I think it was God telling me to “get out of your head, Girl. I’ve got this!” encouragement.
Here’s the situation. My sister is in rehab after hospitalizations and rehab since Thanksgiving. Her Medicare has run out, they want to move her to the nursing home part of their facility, and her private doctor and friend who had Power of Attorney, have dropped her. Hence, my other sister and I are now to assume Power of Attorney.
These are the positives I’m embracing. One, that God is sovereign and has all this in view and is more powerful than any other force to solve the problems.
Two, my chance encounter with Chuck and his son who buy an sells property in New York, was Godincidence.
Three, Paxon’s thoughtful comments about the writing of his song “At the Right Hand of the Father” was a perfect example of God’s direction.
Fourth, the readings I chose for today from Scripture not only refreshed my soul; they literally jumped off the page and went straight to my heart.
My desk calendar scripture today is Mathew 11:28– “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Now, if that isn’t direction, the Bible verse I shared with my family, as I do every day, is the Lord’s Prayer. “They will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” But then, the ribbon in my new study Bible took me to 2 Corinthians 2:14-17. A friend’s sincere prayer this morning was Psalm 9, and I was reading Philippians 2, the passage Ev is preparing for our small group for tomorrow, and Verses 1-11 meant so much to me after the morning’s events.
So, one of those days means I can celebrate the troubles which cause me to go to My Father who understands and who guides us to perfect solutions, and I have the confidence to say, “I can do this through Christ who strengthens me.” So whatever difficulties we face this day or any other one, I know with confidence, that God’s got this and holds me at the Right Hand of the Father, interceding for me and those I love and care about in this life. Praise be to His Name and Hallelujah for what He will do with whatever we bring to Him. What a concept,. What a God!
