I was blessed with an earthly dad who fulfilled Psalm 112, and further blessed with a husband who illustrates this for our children.
This is in honor of Father’s Day, “My Psalm 174: Fatherhood Is a Relationship”
My Psalm 174 “Fatherhood Is a Relationship”
Heavenly Father, Our God
Your relationship to us is a blessing.
You, in Your infinite mercy and love
Sent Your Beloved Son, Jesus
So we could know You as Father,
Even, Abba, Daddy.
In a mystery we cannot understand,
You love us as our Creator,
You provide for us as Sustainer,
You teach us as our Discipler and Guide,
You touch us as our Healer,
You give us what we need as our Provider,
You fight for us as our Warrior,
You plead for us as our Counselor,
You disperse knowledge as our Teacher,
You watch over us as our Protector,
You wrap Your arms around us as our Comforter,
You attack our enemies and seek our safety as our Refuge,
You care for us and the generations to follow as our Patriarch,
You bless us with everything You have as our Heavenly Father.
Let us live the words of Your Psalm 112 in honor of You, Heavenly Father:
“Praise the Lord.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who finds great delight in His commands.
His children will be mighty in the land,
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
For the gracious and compassionate and righteous man
Good will come to him
Who is generous and lends freely,
Who conducts his affairs with justice.
Surely he will never be shaken;
A righteous man will be remembered forever.
He will have no fear of bad news;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor,
His righteousness endures forever;
His horn will be lifted high in honor.”
And how, Loving Father, Heavenly King, does man find these blessings?
He is in relationship with You, following Your precepts.
Thank You, Abba Father:
For creating us,
For loving us,
For teaching us,
For disciplining us,
For providing Your blessings,
For giving us opportunities for service,
For coming to be among us
Through sharing Your Son, Jesus,
And wrapping Your love in this Precious Gift
So that we may come into Your Presence
And know the love of You, Our Father. Amen.
