I suspect that if we consciously try to find the good in every day, God will reveal it to us. It’s an attitude of gratitude sort of thing. Yesterday our family went to the Wildlife Preserve in Titusville. We try to do this each year while migrating birds visit here for warmth. That, to them, must be a blessing of grace.
Although we didn’t see as many spoonbills and other beautiful birds, we were blessed by a day of totally clear Da Vinci skies. You do know that term, right? Apparently Da Vinci was the first artist we know about who noticed the sky at the horizon is lighter than the sky overhead. Anyway, yesterday that was so very noticeable, and the reflection, mirrorlike reflection of the mangroves and other plants and trees in the still waters made the whole tour a blessing.
Later we had dinner at the famous Dixie Crossroads. It was another grace in the day. I observed an elderly lady (I should be talking!) at a table near us. When we left, I complimented her with, “You look so beautiful in that color.” She was wearing my favorite shade of turquoise. “Why, thank you,” she replied, with a cheerful “Happy New Year.”
It was a tiny gesture on my part, but I could tell it blessed her day. So I’m saying, why not make a daily effort to sow peace and grace to others? Let’s do it in Twenty-Two, and see if we can’t brighten others’ days too. Who knows how far we can spread joy!
