Political animosity reminds me of this Proverb from chapter 11: “If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you! Trouble chases sinners, while blessings chase the righteous.” Let us agree, this day, to search for the good in others, be thankful for our blessings as a nation, and seek to see the glass half full rather than half empty. Pray for enemies but encourage those who deserve tolerance, friendship, and recognition for the good they do. Share the plenty in 2020 and have a blessed day looking for positive examples of God’s goodness and rich blessings.
I am rereadying my book “It’s Surely a God Thing! On this day of Presidential impeachment, and the morning after a triumphant State of the Union speech, the commentators will have much vitriol on one side and resounding praise on the other. We saw enemies of each other, on the political spectrum, mere feet away from each other. We saw Nancy Pelosi’s scowls and her vehement actions as she tore the Presidents speech and threw it down on the desk. It will be a long day of commentators’ commentaries, and frankly, it makes me sad to think that our legislators are not accomplishing the work of the nation because they have allowed hatred to hold sway. This is not, I am sure, what our founders expected when they created this nation’s governing bodies.Checks and balances are fine, but political duels are as deadly as the personal ones of old.
In my book, I wrote about Godincidences. Things don’t occur randomly for the believer in God’s sovereignty. Everything has its time and place and purpose.Zechariah 4:6 says,”This is what the Lord says–it is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. That means that its not under our own power that things happen in this life. The Holy Spirit can accomplish more in a nanosecond than our efforts can produce in a lifetime of trying .It’s awesome what God can do with a life when the Holy Spirit is piloting it.You see ,God oversees every life in every age, in every nation,in every century,in every instance, and in every opportunity. Godcreated us;God loves us;God wants all of us to come to a decision to accept His love, His Lordship, and His eternal presence in our lives. When the time is right for a heart to accept Jesus Christ’s death to save us from the sin that invaded the world and controls our lives,it will happen, but not by chance It is by eternal design. It’s a Godinstance, orGodincident,or a Godincident. When we’re in the will of God, He just makes things happen that astound us. ?We can’t plan for it; we’re not surprised by it; it’s just the way it is.” Domestic peace can occur too. I pray that at such a time as this, cooperative spirits can work together for the common good.
