We were honored to participate in the Palm Bay Town Hall observance of National Day of Prayer yesterday. One of the prayer supplications was for our church leaders, and it was a privilege to pray for churches where my husband and I have never been, but which are part of our community. After prayer by pastors from our community, not, by the way from our home church, we were given time to pray in small groups where we stood. 1 Thessalonians 5:12 comes to mind: “Honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. Think highly of them and gibe them your wholehearted love because of their work. And remember to live peaceably with each other. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else.” Last Sunday our home church was honored to ordain and install a new associate pastor, a man of God who has recently completed seminary training and examination by the Presbytery. And our church has recently begun yet another church plant, which is our mission, this one to Hispanic people in the Orlando area. Today, let us pray for our pastors, worship leaders, youth leaders, elders, deacons, and those establishing new churches to reach more people for Jesus. Let us renew our fervor to pray for their courage, stamina, health, spiritual growth, and vision as God sees fit to share with each one. Let us uphold our churches which are under political and cultural attack, and pray that our land continues to allow churches to preach and teach God’s word. Pray for the persecuted church and those who refuse to cower in fear when oppression occurs, sometimes on a daily basis. Let us pray for our missionaries and those preaching to the ends of the earth, that the harvest in these end times might be gathered from every tribe, nation, and people and we may all rejoice in worshiping the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and see the evil one of this world defeated with all his minions. Let us see revival and strengthening of God’s Word to guide our leaders and bring our society in line with God’s word. Let us be part of the salt and light of the world because we ask God to guide and build the church, His Bride.
