“God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Matthew said it, I believe it, let it be so. As we inaugurate a new President this day, may we be aware that God is sovereign, He appoints our days, He rules the universe, He calls our leaders to serve, He disposes and dismisses kings, and He reigns supreme. Let us keep all things in perspective, pray for our leaders, find the grace in our hearts to forgive, and the mercy to overlook wrongs and keep malice away from our souls. For in all things, we are to live with a thankful attitude for giving us the grace to live in this great land in such a time as this, and to pray for peace, understanding, blessing, love, and pure motives so that indeed America will be great, not just again, but that She may endure as the bastion of goodness and fulfill the potential She has in service to this world and the people who need Her strong presence to continue. May God continue to bless this land, and may we as citizens pledge to do our part to bring peace and civility and love to all this day.
