It used to be a superstition that Friday the thirteenth was a “beware” day. Hope that’s not the case today. It’s a “prepare” day.
Monday my writers’ group “You Are Unique” plans to have its third “Book Signing” event. These ten writers have worked for three months to complete their third anthology. This one is called “Remember The Time. . .?” In it they explore six themes, and many who said, a mere year ago, “I can’t write,” or “My life is nothing special,” or “I could never get my name in a book,” now have to literally “eat” their words. Our wonderfully talented activities director at Glenbrooke Senior Living where most of us live, will throw a lovely party for us Monday while our avid readers purchase their books.
The group was recently featured in Senior Life newspaper, and we sold one-hundred-fifty copies of their first two books. This one has orders for over seventy. Today, I am preparing for their party, and have added a book sale of my published books as well and a gift-wrapping area for them to prepare books for mailing to family and friends.
The “beware” part was due to my error in thinking. Next year, I’ll know better. The books have been delayed, although ordered in plenty of time in November. The last shipment arrived just yesterday–just in the nick of time. A planned lunch-distribute writers’ books event on this past Monday, we were still waiting for books. Next year we will not get in the middle of the Christmas rush and the Thanksgiving holiday, both of which contribute to my rise in blood pressure. I did learn how to contact “real people” at Amazon, though.
By Monday, all will be ready, and my octogenarian and older ladies will get their due recognition for Anthology #3’s completion. Several new members will join the group in January and we will begin 2025 with new goals in mind. So this, and Monday, will be “just another day,” indeed.
