Be strong and courageous!
Do not be afraid and do not panic before them.
For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you.
He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
Deuteronomy 31:6 NLT
No doubt about it. Perilous times seem always just around the corner if we are those who read signs, ponder statements, look at the stock market, listen to news commentators, or imagine the horrid things that can befall those close to us. Some see the glass half full; some see the deficiencies and could panic without the concept of faith living within the soul. How do unbelievers cope when the world seems to be chaotic, unpredictable, and ready to collapse if we see the pessimistic emptiness of the proverbial glass.
Man has always lived in perilous times. The world is very big and to many, very overpowerful, and man feels vulnerable, so very small, and somewhat defenseless. But to those who trust the sovereignty of God who controls the whole universe in all its complexity and its myriad of details, we can trust His immutable grace to sustain us. We know gravity is a given, we know time is measurable, we observe the cyclical seasons and understand the balances and predictability of the natural world. We have been made in the image of God. Therefore, we have ability and creativity, and problem-solving skills. We also re able to postpone outcomes; we do not need immediate gratification.
Today’s headlines will certainly fade into oblivion as tomorrow’s capture our thirst for the latest. Large movements take time to develop; history is made from hundreds of todays and tomorrows. One’s loud voice is heart for the time that grass grows for a while, withers, and becomes fire fodder. Temporary is not eternity.
Therefore, the Bible tells us to make the most of each day, each opportunity, and that God, in His infinite wisdom, has prepared work for us to do and things for us to accomplish, even from the foundations of the world. We have purpose. We have Godincidences to discover, and He has prepared us for such a time as this. As this verse says, He goes ahead of us and will never fail us or abandon us if we are under His eternal direction.
With that, have a great day doing great things.
