I attended a choral concert last night, and once again filled my head and my one “hearing” ear with beautiful harmonies, melodies, and the passion that comes from performing with finesse, elegance, grace, and precision.
The prayer at the end of the concert summarized it beautifully: “God, you are a creative God, and you have shared your creativity with us. We thank you for that.”
Indeed we do. Today, I was graced by a friend’s sharing cuttings from her garden. Although I have many beautiful plants in my yard, each with its own beauty, color, shape, growing pattern, and individuality, there’s always room for more! I will now have, if it “blooms where it is planted” (my usual mantra when I plant anything), a mulberry bush, tree really, and some wonderful little purple flowers which bloom for only a day, but in that day will bless my garden with their beauty.
Tomorrow I get to be creative as I prepare a meal for the family’s celebration of Emily Grace’s baptism. I found a recipe today that sounds just yummy, is easy to prepare in the crock pot, and will give me time to play with our grandbabies while Mom and Dad look for an apartment for them for the near future. Each day holds a special opportunity to be creative and to share in God’s providential plan, one day at a time, adding up to a lifetime of service in honor of His blessings and provisions for us.
So, I will look for places to be creative, and will recommend Romans 12:2 which says: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is.” I happen to think, this says, be creative, use your minds and talents God has given you as His child, and affect the world with the good, pleasing, and perfect, just as those students did last night with their music.
