My Psalm 175
Thank You, Loving Heavenly Father
For once more bringing me through,
For yet again reviving my spirit
And opening my eyes
To the beauty after the devastation.
You, who created this world
And all that is in it
And pronounced it good,
Have bountifully provided for our every need.
This day, as your gleaming sun rises yet again
The dawn of another day,
Give us the renewal of our minds
To see the glory of Your greatness
And appreciate the benefits of Your renewal.
Through tragedy, You teach us humility.
We do not have the answers
To eternal questions,
Yet You point us to all that is good
So that we can renew our minds
And begin again, refreshed.
You bring Your Spirit to our distress
And breathe new life into us
When we were destitute, deflated,
Unable to understand,
Gasping. Crying Abba Father.
You have used Your servants
To show us Your love.
We thank You for unselfish acts of bravery,
For dedication to making things better.
For new perspectives.
For deliberate acts of kindness
For showing us compassion
And for celebrating life’s precious worth.
Thank you that we can climb from the valley
Of tears, steadily slogging through the wilderness
Finding firm footing as we stumble toward the horizons,
As we tread the paths of uncertainty
And begin to walk purposefully,
Looking toward the proverbial high hills
From whence cometh our strength.
Once more help us to put our hope in You,
To see with new eyes and find new perspective
For You have once more shown us Your mercy
And we are determined to make each day count,
To understand once more life’s brevity
And the importance of focusing
On the eternal rather than the temporal.
Thank You for Your provision,
For the hedges of protection
You give, for Your mercies
Which give us strength to carry on.
Thank You for Your Word which encourages
And for moments when we can glimpse the world
As You created it before man’s sin corrupted it,
Stained it with murder, treachery, discontent, hate,
And the scourge of violence, man against man.
Forgive us our sins, our iniquities, our rebellion,
Our disregard for all that is holy and righteous.
Bring us to Your throne in confession and revival,
And keep us moving toward You,
The Author and Finisher of Life,
The Alpha and Omega,
The Beginning and the End,
The Eternal One Who loves us with mercy
Through the redemption of Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
You, O Lord, are our hope in judgment,
You, O Lord, give us the strength
To rise, to strive, to find our rest
In Your arms, in Your kingdom
Where we find succor for our souls
And solace where we are yet bound
In earth’s dimension for this another day.
“So teach us to number our days aright
That we may gain a heart of wisdom. . .
Make us glad for as many days
As You have afflicted us,
For as many years as we have seen trouble.”
And continue to have compassion on us
In times such as these. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
