In honor of Laney and Nick:
My Psalm 502 Wedding Day
Eternal Father, we pray on this special day
Your blessing on this couple,
Be very real as they pledge their vows
To stay close to them and bless their union.
You who hung the stars in the heavens
You who stop ocean waves on the shore
Yet live in our hearts through Your Holy Spirit
And save our souls through Your Son.
We honor and bless Your Name.
Each year is a gift from You, Dear Lord,
Each breath in Your command,
Each chance encounter, each conversation
Has prepared their hearts for this day.
You knit their bones, their sinews, their smiles,
Gave strength, yet left each one lacking,
Preparing them for each other’s completion
Answered prayers to bond them together.
We bless Your Name, and give your praise
Foreknowing this day would on time come
You’ve guided, protected, cared, and prepared
Them as witness to Your plan.
You’ve known each one, You’ve raised them well
So they would come together
You granted talents, and gifts, and souls
To blend them for each other.
Now, going forward, cement their union
As they learn to walk together
Following Your will for their future, Your plan
They’ll discover Your revealing when it’s time.
Let them never know want or need
When they call on Your faithful providence.
Keep them humble as they pray and seek Your will.
Then reflect how You’ve guided and planned Life well.
And when, so far away now, they’re turning grey
And memories are stronger than adventure can bring,
May they cherish this day, this wonderful beginning
When they promised their commitment this wedding day
