One of the greatest things I understand about God is that He always was, Alpha, and always will be, Omega. He, and He alone, created order out of chaos. Today, I share an original Psalm called Order. May it bless your day and our lives as we journey through a world that seems so chaotic: COVID, inflation, food shortages (especially baby food), war and threats of war, and crime in our streets. These are not of God, but of man’s following sinful influences that are opposed to God’s laws. If we followed the basic tenets of The Ten Commandments and the one great commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself” the world would be a much better place, wouldn’t it? God is the creator, sustainer, and power behind the order that exists. His laws are immutable, and we can rely on them. Man only thinks he can control climate, reproduction, and care of this planet. God’s judgment will fall on those who thwart His laws.
My Psalm 201
O Lord, Master of the Universe, Creator of all,
I worship Your Holy Name
And thank You for Your provision, Your protection,
For giving me life and breath.
I worship You in Spirit and in Truth,
And place my heart in Your hands
That I may serve You and dwell with You
All the days of my life, here and in Your Kingdom.
I thank You for creating order,
For assurance that all is in Your Mighty Hands,
That we can know Your purpose, Your plan.
I thank You for adopting me,
Right in this time and place You assigned to me,
So that I might worship Your Name
When and where I have breath,
That I can sing Your praises,
That I can teach Your truths to my children
And to my grandchildren,
That You are faithful to all generations.
I thank You that through Jesus Christ, Your Son,
I am privileged to call You Abba, Father,
Because of His sacrifice for my sins.
I thank You that I can sing a favorite hymn to You,
“O God, our Help in ages past,
Our Hope for years to come,
Our Shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal Home!
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.”[1]
I thank You for Your Word,
Which spoke into being the heavens and the earth
And brought from chaos of formless waters,
The mighty waters, the oceans,
And told the seas to stay within the boundaries
You set for them.
I am thankful that You shaped the oceans,
You created order and established the tides.
I thank You for moving over the chaos and creating order.
For You established the light which was over the deep
And Your Spirit indeed hovered over the waters.
And I thank You for Your Eternal Presence
Yet even closer than hands and feet,
For the wideness of Your mercy
And the gift of forgiveness You give to me. Amen.
