This promises to be a day of deep contrast. We celebrate the lives of two who have graduated to glory but leave grieving loved ones on earth: Christopher Mynhein, 24 years old, and Mildred Mundy, 95 years old. Both are with Jesus. We rejoice in that fact. I pray strength and love for these families. On the other hand, it is the marriage day of yet another. God knows our hearts. We are made in His image. He knows pain, suffering, grief, and He knows joy, celebration, and today we, His children, will experience both. Whatever else the day holds, and only God knows that, may we bless those around us, and may we feel His Personal Presence as we walk this earthly life.
Personal Presence
My Psalm 209
Lord, You continue to amaze me
Through Your Word, as You care for Your people.
You have guided Your people by clouds,
You have talked through clouds,
You have provided Shikinah Glory through clouds,
And Your Son rose into the clouds and
One day will return triumphant in the clouds.
What magnificent signs and wonders You perform.
And You added an ice storm to the people of Egypt
Who had not seen ice storms.
Just another pestilence, until they let Your people go!
We are told your breath produces ice,
And the broad waters become frozen.
And Your servant Elijah saw a tiny cloud
The size of a man’s hand, rising from the sea.
You taught Ahab a lesson through a tumultuous storm.
Your signs and wonders amaze me even today.
You heal the sick,
You save the lost,
You protect Your people,
You stop persecution,
You speak in dreams,
You grow Your church,
You deter the storms,
You speak through Your servants.
You are an amazing God
And I worship You for Your Presence with us.
Just as You stilled the waves
And transported Jonah,
You act today through signs and wonders,
And I am grateful to call You my God.
And so, in this present day,
In this present moment,
Be very real to us.
Show us Your Presence,
Be our strong guide,
Surround our hearts and lives
With tall hedges of protection,
And whatever You would have us do
Within Your will,
Guide and direct us to do it with Your might
Be very present in our every moment.
For our times, our lives, our strength
Belong to You, to Your Glory and Honor.
Amen.
