Credit to Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller for the term “Possibility Thinking.” Both of these Christian saints inspired me to recognize that God loves us so much that He wants us to dream big, to embrace His universe, to look for prayer answers to be far in excess of our meager requests, and to constantly be on the lookout for Godincidences where no other answer is feasible without God’s orchestrating the outcomes.
Susie Larson writes this thought for today in her Blessings for Every Day. “May you raise your arms and praise God for His faithfulness to you. May you open your hands and receive what He so lovingly wants to give. May you look past our circumstances and see Jesus who reigns over all. And may you move forward in faith, knowing that all things are possible through Him.”
I am currently reading through the Bible chronologically. I used to struggle getting through reading the Bible cover to cover, getting bogged down several times in Old Testament genealogies and such. This year I’m using the Chronological Bible, New Living Translation and finding the stories of God’s direction fascinating. I literally can’t wait to see how God directed His people in episode after battle after prophecy.
I think God is preparing me to write another book about listening, to God, taking His advice, bathing everything in prayer, and watching for the astounding outcomes. Indeed, God is the original possibility thinker, the director of all things, the lover of our souls, and sovereign.
I was reminded in a sermon on Sunday by pastor Jerry Klemm, “God’s thoughts are not our thoughts.” He indeed sees the big picture and reveals his truths one page at a time. We need to see once again that He chooses the places, the people, the battles to be won and lost, and the path to salvation or damnation.
By following His direction, we can be possibility thinkers each day, revealing His story in our lives and serving His Kingdom as He directs us. Just knowing for sure the path is planned for us opens doors, reveals His purposes, and gives us freedom from concerns which could otherwise weigh us down.
Indeed, He’s “got this!” whatever the “this” is today. It’s Surely a God Thing! to quote a book title I’ve used.
