I am busy writing the sequel to Whispering Woods, my new book about to be released next week. I think I’m even more excited about this second book in the series than the one just being released. It’s very much like expecting a second child, although this will be my seventh book.
Whispering Woods takes a wonderful Christian family and its nanny and her family through the disaster of 9.11 where they lose their businesses, their condo, and their will to stay in the situation. An opportunity to purchase 160 acres in Great Barrington, MA leads to their establishing a resort-retreat center as their new business.
Its sequel, Winter Wonderland begins the fun part of the story, populating the resort with interesting people and sharing their stories. They assemble an awesome staff that quickly becomes family. Their experiences bring the place to life, literally. Picture a beautiful Victorian Mansion, lovingly called The Grand Lady, The Event Barn and Equestrian Center, The Ski Lodge, The Railroad Cottage, and an organic farm and petting zoo next door, and you have the locale.
But as the staff gathers for its weekly meeting, the owner, Phil, offers this prayer: “Dear Lord and Sovereign Father of us all. We thank You for this business, we thank You for this wonderful family and staff, and we praise You for our success so far. If it please You, Lord, increase our energy, strength, patience, and insight to provide what we need to every guest and to each other. Help us to be encouragers to all we meet, and beacons of Your light and salt in a world that needs both. In Jesus’ Name and for His Kingdom. Amen.” This is the real story I want to tell.
One of the people I’ve met at LifeRich Publishing told me that my books can reach people who don’t usually go to church with the message of reliance on Christ as their Lord. I’m on a mission to do just that. And so, Winter Wonderland is taking shape, just as Whispering Woods becomes a reality this week.
