my second book is: Job Loss: What’s Next? A Step by Step Action Plan
I hope this book will aid those who face unemployment, whether through retirement, reduction to part time, layoffs, business failures, or by choice. Not unlike other life crises, people endure stages of grief, need to reevaluate goals, and must take a hard look at their personality traits, upgrading skills, and making hard choices about their future endeavors. This book includes a useful handbook and “notes to self”, action plans, success principles, positive reenforcement, and useful references.
Job Loss is all too frequent today. Here find comfort, advice, and action steps. Includes Handbook and success principles for the journey ahead.
To those countless individuals who struggle with underemployment, unemployment, retirement, or a lack of self-worth because of circumstances way outside their control, I sincerely hope this book speaks loudly and clearly that $ucce$$ is not only present when we count our blessings realistically, but achievable in whatever potential situation we face. I am convinced we are wealthy beyond imagination when we observe and appreciate our assets and use them wisely to achieve what seems like the impossible dream. Getting fired, retired, let go, terminated, laid off (whatever the euphemism) is fundamentally life-changing. It can be tempered at first by statements like, “I’m so glad to be free,” or “I never liked that job anyway,” or “I deserve some time off.” But soon those alibis transform into days of boredom, self-doubt, depression, or worse: stages of grief. I know. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I can bless you with some words of advice. Here’s what Jeremiah 29: 11 says:“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Read this book to learn more.
This is the dedication, to my day, Loren J. Whitaker, who influenced my life in so many ways, not the least of which was in the world of work. He gave me one of my first jobs, working in the office of Pitcher Accessories, his automotive supplies business in Hudson, New York. Here’s the dedication page of my book:
DEDICATION
To my dad,
Loren J. Whitaker (1915-1976)
who taught me what it means to work hard, to always give my best, and to appreciate the service of others. As a business-owner who employed and deeply cared for others, he treated his employees and their families as his own, and despite the hardship of losing his business to a devastating fire, he promised to rebuild bigger and better than before. And did. He leaves a legacy of honor, respect, and dedication to excellence which those who knew him admire and emulate.
I hope he’s proud of my efforts.
Enjoy reading my new book, and pray that a publisher will be pleased to make it available to those who desperately need it in this economy.
A career teacher, with forty years of teaching language arts/English, Betty Jackson enjoys wordsmithing, writing, and reading as a vocation and avocation.Retirement is her "age of frosting," a chance to pursue postponed hobbies with gusto. She especially sends kudos to the Space Coast Writers Guild members for their encouragement and advice. Her five books, It's a God Thing!, Job Loss: What's Next? A Step by Step Action Plan, and Bless You Bouquets: A Memoir, And God Chose Joseph: A Christmas Story, and Rocking Chair Porch: Summers at Grandma's are available at Amazon.com. Ms. Jackson is available to speak to local groups and to offer her books at discount for fundraising purposes at her discretion. She and her husband soon celebrate their 47th anniversary, and have lived in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, and now the paradise of Palm Bay, Florida. Their two grown children and daughter-in-love, all orchestra musicians, and our beautiful granddaughters Kaley and Emily live nearby. Hobbies, and probably future topics on her blog: gardening, symphonic music (especially supporting the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra as a volunteer and proud parent of a violinist, a cellist, and an oboist), singing, book clubs, and co-teaching a weekly small-group Bible study for seniors. She volunteers and substitute teaches at Covenant Christian School, and serves as a board member of the Best Yet Set senior group at church. Foundationally, she daily enjoys God's divine appointments called Godincidences, which show God's providence and loving kindness.
