In our Concert of Prayer last Sunday at Covenant Church, we prayed scripture and sang hymns for our nation, for health, for peace and civility, and began with confession leading us to the hope of restoration and deeds of mercy. I am adding prayer for the midwest where we have lived after storms ravaged crops and property yesterday. Go to the scriptures to read Ephesians 3:14-21, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 51:1-2, Revelation 21:3-5, Philippians 4:6-7. With me pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, we know You are powerful, able to stir up great winds, earthquakes, and fires. Yet, You often choose to speak to us as You spoke to Elijah, through silence and with a still, small voice. Like the disciples, may we see Your power to calm the storms in our lives. Help us to put our faith in You, and worship You in all circumstances; knowing deeply and trusting wholly that You are the Son of God. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
