Sharing the Plenty in 2020: With sad hearts and dismay, we watched peaceful protests turn to destructive rioting over night in our land. Just when we were hearing contrasting stories of our nation coming together to help each other fight the invisible enemy, now we tear ourselves apart.
Psalm 133 says: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! For there the Lord bestows His blessing even life forevermore.”
Brothers and sisters, let us pray for peace in our land, for love toward our brothers and sisters, for a huge heaping amount of forgiveness and even more for repentance.
“Our God, be merciful to us, a sinful people, and grant us Your Presence in these times. Forgive us for destroying lives and livelihoods and businesses, and for insurrection and hatred toward authorities. Forgive our selfish behaviors and ignoring Your commandments. We kill. We steal. We bear false witness. We covet what is not ours. We beg for Your mercy yet again. Banish Satan’s hold and bring us to repentance. Pandemic and destruction have brought our nation calamity.
“We need, indeed, a new Pentecost this weekend. Send us revival. Show us Your ways yet again, for we have strayed and are suffering the consequences of our sin as a people. Amen.”
