My Psalm 812020
Heavenly Father, Almighty God,
Creator, Sustainer, Lord of the Universe,
We come before Your throne this day in worship.
We thank You for Your attributes:
You created the world and control every detail,
You are the essence of power, beauty, and all that is good.
You gave us a world of majestic mountains and infinite variety,
You made color, and texture, and size and shape
And You called it good and we call it marvelous.
You created day and night and showed us how to measure time.
You made the sea and all that lives in it and glories from it.
You fashioned the beauty of a sunrise and paint a new sunset each day.
You fashioned the birds of the air and taught them to fly.
You gave the cheetah speed and the elephant bulk.
You taught my cat to purr and share his gentle spirit.
You fashioned men and women and gave each unique DNA.
You called your creation good, and we pronounce it marvelous.
Your spoke the universe and all its intricacies into being
And yet hear my prayers and the praise of Your saints.
I worship You in spirit and in truth and call upon Your Name.
On this special day I come with petitions for where we live.
I pray against the Covid-19 plague and the sorrow it has caused.
Your Psalm 103 tells us You heal all our diseases.
I pray that Covid and Cancer and colds will disappear from our midst.
I pray that doctors and nurses and scientists and caretakers
Will find the answers they seek against the misery of illness.
I pray against poverty which keeps people in precarious positions.
I pray against mental illness, that people can cope with their lives.
I pray against the horrors of slavery, abuse, war, and conflict,
That Your people can live in joy and productivity and caring instead.
I pray for our lawmakers and politicians, that You will grace them with mercy
And that justice will return to our land.
Help our country to heal from turmoil, distrust, anger, and distress
And restore Her to righteousness and freedom and opportunity again.
I pray for our community to heal its wounds, scab over its faults,
Protect its people and places from Satan’s grasp
And keep us in Your merciful Presence where You wish us to be.
Humble us, bring us cooperation and compromise and protection
So that we can care for those who need help
And provide a place where families can thrive.
Use me and use others of Your people to provide change
To see new ways to help our land Your kingdom on earth
As it is in heaven.
Help our officials to provide leadership, and bless those running for office
That we will choose the persons You wish to use in this place
To do Your will.
Forgive us for past sins and prevent us from temptation
Which causes greed, corruption, distrust, envy, and strife.
Help leaders to listen, to learn and to follow Your plan.
I pray You will bless every person who calls on Your Name this day.
We face family conflict, financial concerns, and today, a hurricane.
Some live in the woods and cars, without homes.
Some have little food and no jobs.
I pray for those at Rockwell Collins who lost jobs yesterday.
I pray for families living in poverty.
I pray for those laid off from Covid.
I pray for those who have lost businesses and are without hope.
I pray for those who feel lonely and are frustrated and in despair.
I pray for those who live with wrenching sorrow, especially from Corona.
I pray for those struggling with addictions and passions which overwhelm them.
I pray for those who can only watch from outside, not knowing how to help.
I pray for counselors, pastors, and those who tenderly watch over their flock
No knowing all the answers but knowing You who does.
Answer many fervent prayers today, we beseech You.
I pray traveling mercies on our roads.
I pray for peace on our city streets, and abhor the violence we’re seeing.
I pray that we will see revival in Your churches.
I pray Your message will be the hope the masses and the individuals need
For indeed You are the light on the hill, the Source of all beauty,
The merciful God we seek in times of trouble.
Thank You for Your protection and Your love.
For You loved us enough to send Jesus to save us from this world
And from our sinful selves.
I praise Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords
And thank You for sending Him and for His sacrifice
That I may live this day in praise to You.
Amen.
