Ephesians 6:13-14 reminds Christian to “suit up” in the strong armor of faith to face the difficulties in life. It concludes with these words: “Use very piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle, you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. “
Like the millions of others, I am following the Republican convention, hearing stories of countless “overcomers” and their inspirational stories. I am especially impressed by the Everyday American speakers whose life experiences mimic us average folks., although everyone is unique and I believe living life for God’s purpose. Americans are strong. Americans inspire millions to want to come to this country, albeit illegally. Americans are tough. Americans are willing to fight injustice, poverty, discrimination, inflation, handicaps, illegalities, addictions, violence, and rise to overcome circumstances to inspire others to press onward.
We’ve seen countless examples. And now, because of a senseless act of a misguided young man, we have yet another “overcomer” who is destined to lead our nation to further accomplishment. Out of the possible depths of death itself, like a phoenix, Donald Trump has raised his fist more determined than ever to lead this nation back to greatness.
Half the country will disagree with me politically. I’ve lost friends because of the disgusting tenor of political nastiness. But the undeniable truth is that like the heroic speakers this week, and note, Donald Trump has yet to give his sure-to-be inspirational speech, wish to turn our attention to what is great about America and march us onward to greatness. And to the Coreys out there, and the stabbed soldier, and the victims of fentanyl, and others who did not live to see improvement over their situations unless they are redeemed by the Prince of Peace and at rest with Him, we will indeed fight, fight, fight–suited up and at the ready with the words of truth, and victory will be ours.
