Isn’t it great that even when we haven’t seen friends for a while, we are cheered by conversations we have with them, picking up “life” from wherever we last left it and not having concerns about anything but renewing our friendship?
That happened to us a few minutes ago.
We caught up on news, but beneath it all was an abiding mutual love which was refreshed by each other’s presence.
I’m reading lately about people who have strayed away from the church for a while, for whatever reason or excuse, and thinking that renewing a relationship with God and church friends would be so refreshing if by happenstance or by intention, that relationship could be renewed. Maybe it takes a church program or a funeral, or even a holiday such as Christmas or Easter. But becoming part of the family of Christ creates a bond which, when renewed or maintained, brings grace and peace.
If you are one of those who have been away for a while, why not, in these troubling times, take refuge in the place where God knows your name, He welcomes your presence, and He’s been waiting to tell you just what you need to hear at this time in your life’s journey.
That relationship is a bond among Christians. There’s no judgment, there’s no animosity. There’s a genuine feeling that we’re home when we’re with brothers and sisters in Christ. Nothing like it, I [promise.
